ABOUT
Transforming tarab — the Arabic word for musical ecstasy — into a living experience.
TARAB MACHINE is an ensemble that fuses prog rock and jazz fusion with the traditional music from Iraq. Catchy knotty grooves meet the lyricism and breath-led language of Maqam music, in a blend that aims to put everyone into a state of collective trance. Anchored by the voice and oud of Hussein, the group builds bold bridges between traditions, blending haunting melodies, driving grooves, and shimmering textures.

Their genre-bending approach and powerful live performances have quickly earned them a place on the Belgian scene. Despite being a newly formed ensemble, they have already appeared at major events, including the Human’City Festival for BelRefugees (opening for Manu Chao), Plazey Festival in Koekelberg, and Brussels Jazz Weekend, among others.

On 21 October 2026, they will release their debut EP, featuring the captivating voice of Tunisian singer Imen El Amouri.
